Christian Education

Every Sunday during the service there is Youth Gathering for High School age students held in Room 8/9 off the Fellowship Hall. Grades 6, 7 & 8 meet in Room 6. Some of our High School youth also work as Sunday School and Nursery helpers. We take a break in July and August.
Events include the Bay of Quinte Conference Fall Youth Retreat and Youth Forum in May. See the “Presbytery Youth” page for more details.

About our Sunday school

Our Sunday School generally follows the lectionary so their lesson is on topic with the Sunday morning worship service sermon. The lessons are reinforced by crafts, games, stories and activities such as baking or taking part in plays or presentations which are shared with the congregation.

Our grade 7 & 8 class and our Youth Gathering (High School age) meet for discussion

  PVUC Nursery

The Nursey is located downstairs in Room 3, to the left at the bottom landing of the staircase at the main (east) doors.

Our friendly, caring volunteers are always eager to help to you and your children.

Parents are most welcome to stay while children become accustomed to their new surroundings. A change table is available along with comfortable chairs should you wish to stay. You can listen to the service on our AV system in the Nursery.

Babies are also welcome to stay with their parents in the sanctuary upstairs. Should babies need attention, there are baby change tables located in the family/wheelchair accessible washrooms on both floors. As well, the service can be heard from speakers in the Lounge, Narthex and Library and sen on monitors in the Lounge and Nursery. There is a box of toys in the Lounge.

NOTE: We are currently seeking supply staff for our Nursery.

 Confirmation Class

Confirmation classes at PVUC typically begin in February and end with the Confirmation service in May. Classes are open to teens in grade 8 and up. The class has in the past included the Confirmation Retreat at the Five Oaks Centre. Topics covered include God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit, the Bible, Christian decision-making and lifestyle, church history and The United Church of Canada. Please contact PVUC office for more information.
